Mindbody Alternative

The Mindbody alternative whose full price is the one on the page

Mindbody names a starting price on its regional pricing pages, but every plan still ends in a conversation – the button says let's talk. Its own FAQ describes what the total is made of: the plan you pick, the extras you add, and fees tied to how you sell and get paid, including a share of the first purchase when a new client finds you on the Mindbody app. Salon Wizard is the other shape: a plan you can read to the end, the team inside it, and nothing that meters your bookings.

Why salons switch to Salon Wizard

No commission per booking

We take no share of an appointment and charge nothing when someone books. Mindbody's own pricing FAQ names a fee when its consumer app delivers a client who is new to your business – a capped share of that client's first purchase, with every booking after it free of charge. It is a small thing until the app becomes a channel you rely on; then it is a channel with a meter on it.

Nobody else stands on your page

Your guests book on your own page under your brand, and that page is part of the plan. Mindbody includes a customized website and branded booking widgets on its plans as well, so the page itself is not what separates us. The listing in its consumer app is: beside your appointment, the studios around you appear under the same search. On your own page, nobody else does.

Data in Germany, GDPR-compliant

Your client records sit on servers in Germany and belong to you. Where a global platform stores yours is set out in its own privacy terms, and that is worth reading before the data has moved rather than after.

Your whole team at no extra cost

Staff are included in the Team plan. Mindbody states unlimited users per location, so headcount is not the axis there either – its base subscription grows with locations. Ours does the same, by a fixed surcharge you can read on the pricing page instead of hearing in a call.

Switch in a few steps

  1. Create your account

Sign up, name your salon, add your opening hours – no payment details.

  2. Add services and team

Set up treatments with duration and price, then add your staff. Included in the Team plan at no extra cost.

  3. Publish your booking page

Your page goes live and guests book under your brand – every appointment is yours.

What switching actually changes

Two of the three changes here are about knowing your costs in advance. The third is about who the software was built for.

  1. The price becomes a number, not a meeting

Instead of a starting price that a conversation turns into the real one, you read the whole plan and begin. That also means no negotiation and no account manager – a fair trade only if you would rather do the arithmetic than have the conversation.

  2. Discovery stops carrying a fee

Nobody charges you when a new face appears, because nobody is sending them. The reach of a consumer app goes away with the listing, and your own page has to be made known through your own channels.

  3. The stack gets smaller

Payments, point of sale and the wider integration estate stay with Mindbody. Here the appointment, the client record and the invoice are the product, and everything at the counter is your own arrangement.

What you keep, what you give up

What you keep

The calendar and staff scheduling, services with duration and price, online booking around the clock, and client records with history and recurring appointments. Your own booking page comes with it, and the team is included in the Team plan at no extra cost.

What you give up

The consumer app's reach, the point of sale and payment processing, the branded mobile app, and the class-and-membership machinery a wellness platform carries. We have no certified till at all, so a business settling cash through one piece of software will still need a till beside us. You also give up the hand-holding: Mindbody advertises onboarding, a data transfer service and dedicated one-on-one support at no additional cost, where we hand you a product you set up yourself and answer when you get stuck. And if memberships and class schedules run your week, this is not the swap for you.

Frequently asked questions about the Mindbody alternative

Why does Mindbody name a starting price but not a total?

We will not speculate about the reason. What can be observed: its British pricing page names a starting price per location, its North American one names no figure at all, and in both cases the way to the final number runs through the sales team. Its own FAQ explains why a single figure is hard to print – the total depends on the plan, the add-ons and how you sell and get paid. We took the other route: the plan is published, the team is inside it, and what you read is what you pay.

Does Mindbody charge for bookings?

According to its own pricing FAQ, the fees beyond the plan hang on how you sell and get paid: taking payments, text messages beyond the bundle your plan includes, and a new client who finds you through the Mindbody app – there Mindbody takes a capped share of that first purchase, and every booking after it is free of charge. That last line is the one a salon should read twice.

Does Salon Wizard charge per staff member?

No. Staff are included in the Team plan at no extra cost, whatever the size of your team. Mindbody states unlimited users per location as well, so this is one of the rows where we do not differ. Only additional locations cost a fixed surcharge here.

I run several locations – what changes?

With us the surcharge for a second location is printed and complete, so you can work it out before you open it. Mindbody prices per location too and names a starting price per location on some of its regional pages – what the actual plan mix comes to is settled in the sales conversation.

How does the billing model differ from Mindbody?

Mindbody assembles a total from a plan, add-ons such as a branded app, and usage-based fees. Its regional pages name a starting price per location; what the whole thing comes to is settled in the sales conversation. We quote no figures of theirs on purpose – they differ by country and they change, and a stale number would be worse than none. Salon Wizard charges one plan with the team inside it. Text messages run on credit here too; email reminders are included.

Can I take my client data with me from Mindbody?

Ask for the export while your access is still live. What a platform releases, in which fields and which format, is its decision; a promise about that is not ours to give. In Salon Wizard you then set up client records, services and hours.

Is Salon Wizard as broad as Mindbody?

No, and that is not the aim. Mindbody serves fitness, wellness and beauty – its own navigation lists hair salons, barbershops, nail and lash studios – from a single studio up to a franchise chain, with memberships, class schedules, a branded app and a large stock of integrations. We do appointments, client records and invoicing for a salon. If memberships and class timetables run your week, they are built for that and we are not.

Does my salon need a point of sale?

That depends on the country you invoice in. Ask whether your law requires a certified security device for electronic tills and from what point it applies – in Germany that holds for cash trade with an electronic till. Mindbody includes point of sale and payment processing in its plans. Salon Wizard deliberately does not: the till stays whatever you use today.

Is Salon Wizard right for your business?

A comparison answers the price question. It does not answer the question of fit. What each plan contains is on the pricing page – how Salon Wizard works in the day-to-day of your trade is what the vertical pages beside it show, each with the services, routines and examples that are usual there.
